Sibley Memorial Hospital  (F/T 2005-2007, P/T 2007-2009)                          2005-2009

A non-profit, full service 328 bed acute care community hospital serving the Washington, DC area. The Sibley campus includes an assisted living residence, Grand Oaks and The Renaissance, housing rehabilitation medicine, skilled nursing care and a residential Alzheimer's unit.

 

This position was developed to address severe under-utilization of the Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit.  My focus was to

·        Educate referral sources in the Washington area.

·        Develop new referral patterns to utilize valuable inpatient services.

·        Target marketing, including colleges, geriatric population aging at home, and those in the continuum of nursing centers and assisted living facilities, including the mentally ill within the general adult population.

·        Intensify outreach to the Metropolitan area physicians, including in-service sessions, presentations and special events on and off-site.

·        Identify business development opportunities, maintain business relationships and develop patient referral sources within the Hospital and in the outside community.

·        Coordinate special events

·        Provide support for key physicians and community providers.

Results were a 30% increase in general referrals to the emergency room and subsequent transfer the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit, a 50% increase in admissions of the geriatric population and a 30% increase in unit bed occupancy. Received commendations from the Director of Behavioral Health as well as from other key administrators.

Potomac Home Health Care is the Medicare-certified Joint Commission-accredited home care company owned by Sibley Memorial Hospital and Suburban Hospital, to provide skilled, private duty, adult day services, transportation, mental health to meet the needs of the homebound patient in the Maryland and Washington, D.C. area. 

 

Marketed private, skilled home care, and adult day services to community referring sources, including physicians, social workers, hospitals, nurses, nursing home and assisted living administrators.  Broadened community awareness of services.

Provided detailed reporting on level of customer service in retail and restaurants in compliance with franchiser standards. Received "preferred shopper" status, offered high priority shopper assignments.
